Hi Lotrippers!

Seven years have passed since de zine was published… Do you think it’s still available for purchase?

I’ve been in the fandom for about a year now and have already read the stories from the zine that were posted but not all of them are online… and you know, curiosity kills the cat but satisfaction brings him back. :)

Now that dombillijah.com is back, I've just gone and re-uploaded the zine website.

I've linked to the stories that were posted to this community, if you're an author and you've posted your story elsewhere - could you drop me the link?

Thank you! :)

Belated zine response [28 Feb 2006|08:19am]

reynard_pyjama
Hello Zine people,

I got my copy of the zine at the end of last year and although I have still not finished it (I am an excruciatingly slow reader), I have been enjoying it very much. The fact that it is a hard copy means that I can appreciate it and revisit it at my own pace. No screen-fatigue to make my eyes bleed or messy scraps of paper to get rumpled and lost. And I can wave it at people and say "look, here's what can be done".

I would firstly like to thank Hope for introducing me to LOTRIPS, and to the zine. Hope, your perspicasity and industriousness are second to none. Your generosity and compassion for fandom, for the texts, characters (both fictional and real), ideas, activities and people involved are an inspiration.

To all the contributors, congratulations, and thank you for your hard work and for sharing your treasures. I haven't finished all the stories yet, but those I've read so far have been a delight and continue to populate my brain. The best part of the whole venture is more than having the stories themselves outputted in a tangible form, it's that the zine speaks vividly of a group of dedicated talented people working together and putting their all into something.

Cheers

A/N: Incunabula are early bound books, from the era prior to printing. The word comes from the Latin for 'swaddling'. They are rare and precious.

The time has come! [25 Feb 2006|09:42am]

It has now been 18 months since the publication of the zine, so authors are allowed to post their stories online. I’ve made a post commemorating the occassion here.

I’ve also encouraged authors to post to this community - so keep an eye out - and don’t forget: LEAVE FEEDBACK!

To anyone who purchased one of these babies at ORC:

aka, the lotrips zine, lotripping; know that the money you gave me went directly to either sean astin's tsunami collection jar, or to the international red cross 'general emergency fund' (whether that be to tsunami, or sudan, or whoever needs it most).

(this situation came about because cafepress gave me a bit of credit to use in their stores due to the fact that so many zines were sold! in order to still not make a profit off this whole venture, i got a bulk order of zines to sell at the con and pass on the 'proceeds' to charity. so everyone is happy ;))

and don't forget to leave feedback! you can do so on the lotripping community, or using the emails on the contributors page, or using the guestbook on the site.

thanks!

Some belated feedback [09 Jan 2005|10:04pm]

[ mood | exhausted ]

Right, well, my copy finally got to me. I read all of them in about 4 days, at the possible expense of my degree ;)

so here's some feedback, probably not everyone just yet, i'm knackered:

First of all, i <3 the cover. i don't know who's responsible, so whoever you are, it's wonderful.

Hope's EditorialCollapse )

Auld Lang SyneCollapse )

IncunabulaCollapse )

Mutual Appreciation SocietyCollapse )

Wahhhh. That's all i can do for now. More soon, everyone deserves proper feedback and i can't think straight on sunday evenings.

I've been ridiculously slow when it comes to reading the whole zine - mainly because I keep having to find times and places to read openly without getting caught out (I'm a school teacher and accidentally managed to leave it at school for two days, tucked inside a folder full of children's coursework -eek!). I'm also holding back on the feedback, as I don't want any writers feeling put out that I read certain fics before others: full feedback will have to wait until I've finally had a chance to enjoy the whole zine.

However, whilst reading last night I decided I had to post here to praise the most frustrating - but also most helpful (bad word choice, I know) aspect of the collection. Although each fic is rated and pairings are listed in the index, there is no clue as to the type of fic... Normally I'm very selective and have to be pushed to read outside of what I'm used to, but I've found myself reading all sorts that I wouldn't normally venture into - especially AU!

So thanks. Whether this was the conscious intention or not, the zine has finally pushed me outside of my lotrips comfort zone and I'm loving it!

Spare zines [09 Nov 2004|03:46pm]

andraste_oz
I have two copies of Lotripping going begging - one because I was a klutz and ordered too many, one because I can't get a response from the person I ordered it for.

Anyone (preferably within Australia) want them? The cost is $26 AUD. I'm in Melbourne, but I will bear the cost of postage elsewhere in Australia.

I'm back from holidays and back online. Lotripping rocks. It got me through many a jetlagged night of insomnia. This is a big thank you to everyone who contributed, and most of all to the amazing Hope for putting it together. AND darling msilverstar for selling me a copy in an dark underground carpark in San Francisco (no joke – how's that for slash being like crack?!).
Here's more feedback for those that want...Collapse )

Above all, my favourite is Hope's editorial – an intelligent analysis of the world of fan fiction, containing history, validation, enthusiasm and a reasoned explanation of how slash fits with the rest of my consumption of popular culture.

I must preface by saying that this zine is just the finest thing, it’s a tactile joy, it’s solid in my hand, it’s weighty with talent and most of the authors in it are people whom I hold in such esteem that usually I would never even dare leave feedback for them, because I fear looking like a blithering idiot next to their immaculate creations. However, I know that, really, almost everyone loves feedback, and so I’m going to try and repay these people for all the reading joy I’ve had from them over the past year or so.

I was meaning to do every fic in one go, but I realise that's not going to happen anytime soon, so this is just a few applaudings for various people:

Feedback: Auld Lang Syne by Kaydeefalls [12 Oct 2004|07:53pm]

First I want to apologize for not being the type of person to write a whole paragraph of feedback.

I loved this fic. I think it's great and it was written well, and I loved the ending (and the beginning!). It's definitely a fic I'd read again. :D

Feedback [02 Oct 2004|07:53pm]

cupiscent
[ mood | blessed by my fandom ]

I loudly declared at the zine launch that I would feedback every single author on their piece. This is, of course, contingent upon me having time to read (then think and write). God bless weekends.

Auld Lang Syne - Kaydeefalls

An iteration of yaynessCollapse )

Incunabula - Sophrosyne

Showcase of considerable talentCollapse )

I now declare I shall flick through to further towards the back of the book, because it's not fair, these first-comers getting lots of feedback while the rest of us languish in the middle or back. *G*
